Raised Doughnuts

Dough                                            makes about 130 doughnuts
6 cups milk
1 ½ cups shortening
3 cups water
6 eggs
1 cup sugar
6 Tbsp. Yeast
3 tsp. salt
16-18 cups flour

Scald milk. Add shortening and cool.
Mix water, eggs, and sugar.
Add cooled milk mixture.
Mix in half of flour.
Sprinkle in yeast and salt.
Add flour one cup at a time until dough pulls away and cleans sides of bowl.

Knead for 5 mins.
Roll out, cut and let rise.
Deep fry on each side.

3 cups white sugar
1 ½ cups butter
1 ½ cups milk
3 tsp. salt
3 cups icing sugar
3 tsp. vanilla

Bring white sugar, butter and milk to a boil.
Remove from heat.
Beat in salt, icing sugar and vanilla with mixer.
Dip fried donuts in glaze.
Cool & enjoy!
(1) To keep unused doughnuts tasting fresher put them in the freezer right away. And for even fresher tasting doughnuts, glaze after you take them out of freezer.
(2) Add instant mashed potato flakes to dough for extra moist doughnuts

Guess what we're having tonight???

We aren't going to have them as a snack but DINNER...OK I'll cook some eggs, bacon, and give them a fruit. Wonder what they will eat the most of...I know the DONUTS!

I'll let you know if mine turn out and look as good as yours. Although if they taste good who cares how they look :)
